With its unmistakeable mountain views, the award winning Val du Charron Wine and Leisure Estate is situated in the picturesque Bovlei, ten minutes from the town of Wellington and under an hour’s drive from Cape Town. With a history of winemaking dating back to 1699 Val du Charron’s wines are available worldwide but are best enjoyed surrounded by the vineyards themselves at one of the Estate’s restaurants or from your own balcony at the 4 star Guesthouse or 5 star Coach house suite.

Wellington

Wellington offers a compact 26-member wine route comprising of 2 large producer cellars, proud wine estates from many generations, all within easy driving distance from one another. In the last couple of years Wellington has received an impressive array of accolades for their wines, locally and abroad. The fact that the majority of South Africa’s vine cutting nurseries are found in the Wellington area, is due to the excellent soils and climate of the region.

Val du Charron’s 4 star Guesthouse invites young and old, business and leisure travelers to enjoy the beauty of the Cape winelands with all the convenience you would expect from luxury accommodation. With luxury double and twin rooms with balconies, family room with balcony, and garden room with outside area, you can soak in the views while you enjoy a cold drink from the minibar or a gourmet coffee from the in-room drinks station. Please note that our standard room does not have a balcony or outside area.

 Wellington is home to some of the biggest vine nurseries in the Southern hemisphere so regardless of where our guest choses to drink their wine; chances are it was born in Wellington! So where better to base oneself in the winelands – only 25 minutes from Stellenbosch and Franschoek and 10 minutes from Paarl. With its spectacular scenery, many of our guests chose simply to sit back and enjoy our own internationally acclaimed wines and soak up the history and culture of this original wine growing area.
