The Soothing Sound Of Lapping Waves
Located in the far north of Tanzania’s Pemba Island, Manta Resort is the archetype of an idyllic, remote and untouched tropical getaway. Set on a pristine white beach just metres away from a vibrant coral reef, this is the kind of place where you can indulge in barefoot, Crusoe-chic romance.
Anchored in an ocean floor anomaly we call the blue hole, the floating underwater room tops almost anything. Encapsulated within a turquoise blue bubble, watching shoals of reef fish swim by – sometimes in three or four layers of different species, this is a truly heart-stopping, yet awakening, experience. The floating structure, Swedish engineered, provides three levels, above the water clad in local hardwood is a lounge, bathroom below a stargazing, sun tanning bed. Each one worthy of its own story.
Pemba Island
Situated in the far north-west of Pemba – a relatively undeveloped island, sat north of Zanzibar. With a fraction of tourists and much fuller vegetation, Pemba is a good idea for those looking for something different, particularly those interested in diving! The land of cloves and mangoes and hillocks lush with fruit and spice trees. Traditional dhows lie scattered across most of the coastline and fishing is a large part of Pemba’s culture.
