A Deeply Authentic Wilderness Experience

The spectacular Asilia Highlands combines a cutting-edge, open design with an intimate setting within the lush forest that sprawls along the slopes of the Olmoti volcano. Stylish and contemporary, with just eight canvas-and-glass domed suites draw their inspiration from the enchanting Maasai bomas that dot the landscape. Guests can expect warm and contemporary interiors that offer the perfect atmosphere to unwind after a successful day of game viewing.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and with good reason: it is a stunning landscape of mountainous forests, grassy plains and swampy marshlands. The Highlands perches at the edge of a forest that encircles Olmoti Volcano, with sweeping views right across the Serengeti. It is the highest property in the area, affording sublime, panoramic vistas. Both sunrise and sunset are visible from camp.

DOMED CANVAS & GLASS SUITES

Contemporary Style

The eight domed suites at The Highlands are made of canvas and glass and are surrounded by lush vegetation with views across the surrounding hills. There is one family tent and one special honeymoon tent with a hot tub. Each suite has a king-sized bed facing floor-to-ceiling windows and a deck that curves around the tent. At night, wood-burning stoves keep guests cosy and warm.

Explore the 300 km2 Ngorongoro Crater with our experienced and knowledgeable guides. We’ll pack a picnic lunch to enjoy under a shady tree, so you can make the most of your excursion. We have seven-seater closed vehicles with power points and fridges. Embark on the Olmoti Crater climb, directly from camp, follow a trail through mountain forests to the top of the crater for the most spectacular views. Or visit the pink flamingos with a half day hike to the soda lake.
