The Land of Contrasts
Situated on a floodplain in the middle of Hwange National Park, Somalisa Camp boasts elegantly furnished canvas tents with ensuite bathrooms, flush toilets and romantic al fresco bush showers. The pool and the stunning guest area overlook the glorious pan. The sitting room and dining areas are tucked under a soaring canopy of trees, with a clear view of the sprawling vista ahead.
Guests will feast on innovative gourmet meals, complemented by a superb selection of South African and Australian wines. Adventures on offer include bush walks led by qualified and passionate guides, morning and evening game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles and game viewing from hides. The resident wildlife includes the Big Five, white rhino, zebra, giraffe and the rare and endangered roan antelope.
Found along the line of the Kennedy Vlei, this part of the park attracts large herds of elephant, kudu, sable, and giraffe, to name a few. Buffalo and rhino are also known to frequent the area, while the resident predators include lion, leopard, and hyena. After the first downpour of annual rains, the vlei blooms to life, showcasing a myriad of wildflowers drawn from Mother Nature’s exceptional palette.
