Royal Chundu River Lodge rests on a private stretch on the banks of the Zambezi River, just upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls. Protected by two sets of rapids, the Relais & Châteaux property embraces an ambience that is both wild and graceful.

A modern, luxurious African experience; secretly hidden on the banks of Zambezi, surrounded by lush evergreen trees and overlooking the unspoiled expanse of the Zambezi River and the Zimbabwean savanna beyond.

Each of the 10 suites is thatched and opens to the expansive river beyond, sharing in the many night sounds permeating from the wilderness area on the opposite river bank.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is part of the mighty Zambezi River, which forms the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. High-water season is from about February to July – expect the most spectacular views of the Falls and prepare to get a little wet. Low-water season is from about August to January – this is the best time for activities like white-water rafting and swimming in Devil’s Pool.

There are 10 magnificent and spacious river-front suites at River Lodge. All Suites look out onto the mighty Zambezi creating a spectacular and dramatic setting. Each suite has a double shower, air-conditioning, a fan, mosquito nets, a king-size bed and a generous deck with excellent views of the surroundings.

Explore the lifeblood of Victoria Falls – canoe the waters where hippo pods roam, toss your line into the deep-flowing channels to wrangle the stubborn tiger fish, meander along its current on a sunset cruise. Picnics on Persian rugs are set up beneath the trees, accompanied by the sounds of the coursing rapids and African fish eagle’s cry.
