A Hidden Gem

Otjimbondona, meaning “the place where the small camel thorn trees grow” in the Herero language, was bought by the Slaney family in 1923 to farm with sheep and cattle. Wilfried and Anita, took over the farm in 2008 as the third generation of cattle and sheep farming Slaneys and are welcoming guests to their boutique lodge, Otjimbondona Kalahari. Cradled amongst Camel thorn trees with vistas of undulating Kalahari landscapes, Otjimbondona Lodge offers those seeking tranquility, exclusivity and luxury the ideal African retreat.

RELAXING MOMENTS

Several activities in and around Otjimbondona Lodge are offered including massages, nature walks, game drives, star gazing and fat biking. Visits to the Arnhem Caves can be booked as well as scenic flights. Namibia is one of the best destinations in the world for stargazing because it has some of the darkest skies measured on earth. Due to the low population density, the low air pollution, close to non-existent light pollution, and the cloudless night skies, stargazing at Otjimbondona makes for an unforgettable and rewarding experience, both for the experienced astronomer as well as the first time stargazer.
