The award-winning Mfuwe Lodge, built under thatch and supported by palm tree poles, is situated in Zambia’s game-rich Luangwa Valley in the South Luangwa National Park, a conservation area famous for its concentrations of hippo, buffalo and elephant as well as being home to all the major predators.

Cool off in the lodge’s swimming pool while watching African wildlife graze or drink at the lagoon below you or head off on an exciting morning, afternoon or night game drive or even a guided walking safari. And after all the excitement, spend some quiet time rejuvenating at the bush spa while drinking in the beautiful views of the river.

South Luangwa

This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game – giraffe, hippos, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon, whilst in November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree. This section of the park has over 60 different animal species, so a combination of walking safaris and game drives is the ideal way to see a variety of wildlife.

VIEWS OVER TWO STUNNING LAGOONS

Mfuwe Lodge is built up of 18 thatched chalets, each individually placed along the two lagoons. The chalets all feature well-appointed en-suite bathrooms with panoramic walk-in showers, comfortable beds, and sheltered private verandas for guests to sit back and watch the wildlife in the lagoons from the hanging ‘egg chairs’.

The game-viewing potential at Mfuwe Lodge and the surrounding area is second-to-none. Walking safaris can be arranged on request, but the majority of outings are game drives, allowing guests to explore as much of this prolific region of the Luangwa Valley as possible.
