Kyaninga Lodge is among Uganda’s most luxurious accommodation outside the capital, Kampala. Built from timber and thatch, and overlooking Lake Kyaninga, which is one of the country’s deepest crater lakes, it is nearby the town of Fort Portal and has easy access to spectacular hiking trails with views of the Great Rift Valley and Rwenzori Mountains, which are also known as the Mountains of the Moon.

Rwenzori Mountains National Park

The Rwenzori Mountains National Park covers nearly 100,000 ha in western Uganda and comprises the main part of the Rwenzori mountain chain, which includes Africa’s third highest peak (Mount Margherita: 5,109 m). The region’s glaciers, waterfalls and lakes make it one of Africa’s most beautiful alpine areas. The park has many natural habitats of endangered species and a rich and unusual flora comprising, among other species, the giant heather.

Each spacious cottage comes with a choice of twin or double beds made up with the softest bed linen and feather pillows. The en-suite bathrooms boast marble countertop basins set atop crafted Elgon olive pedestals, claw footed freestanding baths, and glass-walled showers.
