Kulala Desert lodge is situated on the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve and in easy reach of the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei. The lodge offers private a entrance into the Namib- Naukluft National Park and is the closest to Sossusvlei.

It draws its inspiration from North Africa with a main guest area incorporating a lounge, bar and dining area. There is a plunge pool for cooling down on simmering Summer days and a wrap- around veranda boasting incredible views of the waterhole in front of the lodge.

SOSSUSVLEI - NAMIB DESERT

The lodge is situated within the 270 square kilometre Kulala Wilderness Reserve in the arid Namib Desert. With a private entrance to Namib Naukluft National Park, it offers the closest accommodation to the rolling red dunes of Sossusvlei. A variety of desert-adapted wildlife can be found within the reserve, including ostrich, springbok, black-backed jackal, hyena, gemsbok, porcupine and bat-eared foxes, as well as diverse birdlife and reptile species.

The lodge boasts 23 thatch and canvas kulalas with ensuite bathrooms and private verandas. Each unit is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breeze, and boasts a viewing deck on the flat rooftop. Have a bedroll prepared on your rooftop deck and fall asleep under the dazzling stars in Namibia’s clear skies.

VARIETY OF DESERT WILDLIFE

Desert-adapted wildlife to be seen on the Kulala Wilderness Reserve includes ostrich, springbok, gemsbok, spotted hyaena, and the occasional brown hyaena. Smaller creatures such as bat-eared fox, black-backed jackal, porcupine, Cape fox, and aardwolf can be seen as well. At dusk the call of barking geckoes can be heard, signalling the end of the day.
